Workshop series offers training on Community Engagement

An upcoming March workshop series offered by the Morgridge Center for Public Service will focus on the essential knowledge needed to get involved in community engagement.  The workshops are designed to support UW affiliates in preparing for equitable, mutually-beneficial community engagement, drawing from a curriculum developed with community partners in the Madison area. This curriculum is also available as Canvas modules.

    • Principles of engagement and building sustainable projects
  • T 4/5, 5-6:15pm @ Red Gym: International Engagement
    • Motivations for engagement and self-awareness; contexts and considerations for international work
  • W 4/6, 5-6:15pm @ Red Gym: Power, Privilege, and Positionality
    • Self-awareness, cultural humility, and implicit bias; local contexts; solidarity
  • F 4/22, 12:30-1:45pm @ Red Gym: Complicating the Wisconsin Idea
    • History of the Wisconsin Idea, motivations for engagement and saviorism
