First American Indian Astronaut to visit UW

Houston we have Liftoff !! In November of 2002, Astronaut Dr. John Herrington boarded space shuttle Endeavour bound for the International Space Station. This would not be his last mission. Dr. John Herrington will be embarking on his upcoming mission bound for UW-Madison’s Engineering Hall.  The Diversity Affairs Office (DAO) is proud to host NASA Astronaut, Dr. John Herrington during the November Leaders in Engineering Excellence and Diversity (LEED) Meeting on Thursday, November 17th @ 5:30 pm in Room #1800 in Engineering Hall.

Dr. John Herrington, the first enrolled American Indian to fly in space, will be discussing his journey to the international space station and his journey through life. Dr. Herrington’s presentation will be followed by a Q and A. We would also like to invite you to join us for refreshments and light appetizers after the presentation in the Cheney Room #1413.
