The 2016 UW-Madison Teaching & Learning Symposium will be May 18-19. This year’s theme is Engage Students, Personalize Learning.
Learning assumes many forms. By tailoring our pedagogy, curriculum and learning spaces, we are able to personalize learning in order to meet the different learning needs and aspirations of our students. Through the use of active and inclusive teaching practices, instructors can create learning environments that value students’ life experiences, promote deeper learning and inspire critical inquiry.
The 2016 Teaching and Learning Symposium aims to bring campus together to share ideas about student learning, collaborate with colleagues and discover unexpected networks.
The Office of the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning is seeking proposals for engaging presentations and posters that spotlight learning across campus and specifically address one or more of the following topics:
- Learning assessment or analytics
- Active or experiential learning
- Curriculum design
- Inclusivity in the classroom, engaging learners with sensitive topics and issues
- Personalized learning models
- Student well-being
- Technology-enhanced learning
Proposed presentations should be 60 minutes long, connect to the symposium theme and feature clear plans for the audience to participate in the session. Posters submissions should have a clear purpose and also connect to the symposium theme. Faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students are all welcome to submit proposals.
