Please join us for a special event; the 3rd Annual Women in Leadership Symposium, “Celebrating Leadership: The Power of Women in the Workplace,” on Wednesday, April 8, at Grainger Hall from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., hosted by the Office of the Vice Provost and Chief Diversity Officer.
Co-sponsored with the help of the National Diversity Council, the focus of this annual event is to bring together a diverse mix of successful women leaders who, through the discussion of topics relevant to today’s issues will educate, inspire and encourage women to reflect on their own goals and status as they strive to advance within their organizations. The National Diversity Council, among many things, hosts symposiums for and by women in regions across the country with the purpose of bringing women together from public, private and non-profit sectors to network, co-train with colleagues, and mentor one another in leadership growth.
This year’s symposium discussion topics include:

- Dealing with Perception vs. Reality: Can Women Be Leaders?
- Leadership Beyond Survivor: Using the Power of Alliances
- Gender Leadership: How Talented Women Thrive

- A Woman’s Secret to Success: Developing and Balancing Self-Confidence
- Purposeful Life: Living and Following Your Dreams
Representing UW-Madison on the symposium panel will be Linda Jorn, Associate Vice Provost of Learning Technologies and Division of Information Technology (DoIT) Director of Academic Technology, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Linda works with campus leaders to set campus strategic priorities around educational innovation and to design efficient, yet flexible organizational structures that can quickly respond to transformational changes. She has 25-year history demonstrating the impact of technology on teaching and learning with over 120 presentations, 19 grants, and 17 publications. Linda is dedicated to an interdisciplinary intellectual approach to her work and draws on key theories and practices from such disciplines as education, rhetoric, communication, and leadership.
