Watch: Senior Godwill Oke — AKA Godly the Ruler — blazes own path in research and music performance

Godwill Oke — known on stage as Godly the Ruler — is a multidisciplinary artist in their final year at UW–Madison.

Oke is a psychology major from Chicago and a scholar in the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program, a federal program that helps scholars acquire the knowledge, skills and capacities necessary to successfully navigate the rigors of Ph.D. studies. After graduating, Oke is interested in researching students of color in higher education, college adjustment, and well-being.

Oke’s journey with music started alone in their high school bedroom and blazes on to today, where they perform anywhere from the Rathskeller in the Wisconsin Union to sweaty basement shows. You can stream them on Spotify, watch their music videos, and follow them on TikTok, YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram at linktr.ee/godlytheruler.
