Annual Faculty of Color Virtual Reception is Sept. 22

Please plan to join the Division of Diversity, Equity & Educational Achievement and the Deans of UW-Madison’s schools and colleges as we honor recent faculty promotions and welcome new faculty members. The event will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 22 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

This year, the Annual Faculty of Color event will be held virtually via Teams.  Each fall, UW-Madison’s Chancellor, Provost and Deans of the university’s schools and colleges welcome newly-hired and celebrate recently-promoted faculty of color at a reception hosted by the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Diversity & Inclusion and the Office of the Secretary of the Faculty. The event will welcome more than 85 new faculty of color to the university and celebrate the promotion of 28 faculty of color to the ranks of associate professor and full full professor.

The event is open to the public. Registration is requested.

“Now, more than ever, we want to launch our upcoming academic year by welcoming new and returning faculty with our Annual Faculty of Color Virtual Reception,” said Interim Deputy Vice Chancellor for Diversity & Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer Cheryl B. Gittens.  “This is a wonderful time to meet and honor faculty of color while extending a warm welcome virtually. It is also an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues from across the campus as we launch the 2020 fall semester.”

This year, the event will welcome more than 85 new faculty of color to the university and celebrate the promotion of 28 faculty of color to the ranks of associate professor and full full professor.
