Making the Wisconsin Idea Local: Local Government Service-Learning Partnerships

David RedlawskMaking the Wisconsin Idea Local: Local Government Service-Learning Partnerships
featuring David Redlawsk, Professor of Political Science and International Relations, University of Delaware

March 9th, 3:30–5:00 pm, Morgridge Center, Red Gym

Traditional service-learning projects match faculty and students with community based organizations. However, there are many possibilities for public-service projects with local governments. During this workshop, hear from national expert David Redlawsk about partnering with local governments on high-impact projects. Redlawsk’s expertise will be complemented by practical insights gleaned from UniverCity Year, a UW-Madison program that brokers local government/service-learning partnerships in Wisconsin. This event is free and open to members of the university and local government communities. For more information, please contact gavin@cows.org

Additionally, Morgridge Center staff will be hosting a half-day workshop about community-based learning on Tuesday, May 19. This workshop will be free, and designed to both introduce practitioners to community-based learning and provide space to address challenges and considerations in community-based learning courses. As we are in the planning process, we would like to know what topics you’d like to see included! If this would be of interest to you, please fill out the following short survey by Wednesday, March 11.
