Training Future Professors to Teach
This spring I interviewed Harry Brighouse, a professor at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, about his ideas for improving undergraduate teaching at research universities.
Not long afterward I heard from Michael Furman, an assistant teaching professor in the classics department at Florida State University. Furman had read the interview and wanted to tell me how his department does one of the things Brighouse recommends: train graduate students to teach.
