Black Male Privilege: A Breakfast Conversation and Discussion

L’Heureux Lewis-McCoy,  Associate Professor of Sociology and Black Studies at  City College of New York for a special breakfast conversation and discussion on Black Male Privilege Thursday, April 9, from 9 a.m. to  10:30am in the Wisconsin Idea Room (Room 159) of the UW-Madison Education Building, 1000 Bascom Mall.

As a scholar-activist, Lewis-McCoy engages projects that address education reform, Hip – Hop culture and gender justice. His recent book, “Inequality in the Promised Land: Race, Resources and Suburban Schooling,” addresses the experiences of low income and racial minority families’ attempts at accessing school-related resources. His wider research centers on racial identity, youth culture and mental health. This lecture is a part of a lecture series on Race, Class and Inequality in American Education: Placing the Local in Context.
