Posse salutes a record 27 scholars at Fall Awards Banquet

For Interim Vice Provost Patrick J. Sims and other guests, Tuesday night was spent with UW-Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank, Posse Patron Wade Fetzer, Posse Wisconsin Director Albert Muniz and Assistant Director Ida Balderrama-Trudell celebrating a record-setting 27 Posse Scholars for their freshman year grades.

In 2002, UW-Madison became the first public university to partner with a private foundation to address a lack of diversity on campus. As a nation we had failed to tap a valuable and essential resource to building a global economy. And as you all know, the Posse program identifies talented students in urban schools who may not have considered or found the means to go to college.

That same year, Posse Patrons Wade and Beverly Fetzer decided to honor Posse Scholars’ first year performance with much-needed laptops and printers.  The Fall Awards Banquet has become a Posse Wisconsin tradition of celebrating freshman-year success.

This fall, each of the following Badger Posse Scholars earned a 3.0 or higher during their first two semesters on campus:
