The MSC is excited, but sad, to announce that Dr. Joshua Moon Johnson will be moving to the Division of Student Life to serve as the Special Assistant to the Vice Provost of Student Life (interim). Joshua has served as the Assistant Dean of Students/Director of the Multicultural Student Center since July 2014. His new position will include oversight of academic initiatives, the Hate & Bias Incident Team, cultural competency programs, and advancement and fundraising. Joshua came to UW-Madison from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and has loved every minute he was able to spend as part of the MSC family.
Gabe Javier will serve as the new Assistant Dean of Students and Director of the MSC (interim). Gabe has served as the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of the LGBT Campus Center since 2011, and he will continue to be the Director of the LGBTCC.
“He has been a strong advocate to students of color, and I am confident he will bring great ideas, energy, and passion to the MSC,” says Dr. Joshua Moon Johnson. “Additionally, the MSC will be hiring a new full-time program coordinator for at least the next year; we hope they begin by July 1.”
