CeO and McNair Scholar Presents Sustainability Findings at Research in the Rotunda

Students had the unique opportunity to present their important research to state legislators, community members, and leaders at Research in the Rotunda last Wednesday. For over two decades, the Universities of Wisconsin hosted standout undergraduate student researchers from around Wisconsin at the state Capitol building for the event.

On April 2, Jehona Zeneli ‘24, a CeO and McNair Scholar, presented her work titled “Can a New Satellite Tool Measure How Much Water Wisconsin Potatoes Use?” Her study tracked data from a satellite that measured the amount of groundwater various Wisconsin farms received in 2019 and 2020. The satellite data and trends could be used to improve the sustainability of vital crops in the future.

Zeneli worked on this poster with Dr. Mallika Nocco, her faculty advisor, for almost a year, and on April 2, she got the opportunity to emphasize the significance of her research on Wisconsin and society at large. At the rotunda, Zeneli, and five other undergraduate researchers representing UW–Madison presented their research to lawmakers and other stakeholders.
