Apply for the 2024 Winter Global Scholars Scholarship by September 27

The Global Scholars Scholarship supports DDEEA students (up to $3,000) who plan to take part in a short-term study or intern abroad program (including study away) offered by UW–Madison / International Academic Programs (IAP) during Winter Break, Spring Break, or the Summer.

To be eligible, applicants must: 

  • Be in the process of applying, or have already applied, to a study abroad, away, or internship program for Winter Break (December 2024 – January 2025). IAP programs and Internships through the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS), Engineering, and Wisconsin School of Business (WSB) are eligible.
  • Participate in one of the following programs within the DDEEA:
    • Center for Educational Opportunity
    • Mercile J. Lee Scholars
    • DDEEA Interns
    • First Wave
    • McNair Scholars
    • PEOPLE
    • Indigenous Student Services Scholars
    • Posse Program
  • Have at least one semester on UW–Madison’s campus after returning from their program
  • Commit to attending a DDEEA Global Scholars Scholarship pre-departure session and completing the Global Scholars Project upon return.

Application Deadline:  September 27, 2024.

If your program application isn’t required to be completed until after this date, you still need to submit your scholarship application by this date to be considered.

Need help finding a program:  IAP offers several resources and info-sessions dedicated to funding study abroad opportunities. Additionally, make sure to meet with your DDEEA Advisor and Academic Advisors to let them know you are planning to attend a study abroad/away program. Students with the most success finding and funding their study abroad/away opportunities start early!!!
