Decolonizing Development Studies and Participant Conversation

Register now to attend the Morgridge Center’s Bagels and Research event on April 7th from 9-10am. The event will be hosted virtually and will feature Pearly Wong, department of Anthropology.

Decolonizing Development Studies and Participant Conversation will be a discuss of  Prof. Wong’s research and engagement with knowledge holders in a community development organization in Pharping, Nepal. Wong co-constructed a research method with her informants, which she called ‘participant conversation’.

Not only was Wong a ‘participant observing’ or getting to know her informants, she was also actively giving input and
shaping their opinions. Wong builds her discussion on decolonial methodologies and anthropological work on reflexivity and positionality.
