UW System Seeks Native American Student Success Coordinator

Native American Student Success Coordinator Position Description Summary:

The Native American Student Success Coordinator will report to the Associate Vice President for the Office of Student Success, this position serves as the principal resource for areas of strategic importance related to the educational success of Native American students within the UW System. Specific duties will include the following:

  • Identify effective policies, practices, and programs that support the academic and social success of Native American students enrolled in the UW System
  • Design and conduct appropriate professional development programs to educate UW leaders, faculty, and staff on the history, traditions, and culture of Native Americans;
  • Act as a resource to UW System Administration on Native American issues and concerns as needed;
  • Collaborate with various internal UW System offices and stakeholders to encourage their engagement in and support of strategic Native American student success initiatives and efforts;
  • Build effective partnerships with Wisconsin’s Native American tribes and Wisconsin Sovereign Nation leadership, including the Great Lakes Intertribal Council (GLITC), and the Wisconsin Tribal Colleges;
  • Encourage the promotion and delivery of curriculum associated with Act 31;
  • Research and maintain expertise on current and emerging trends and best practices related to precollege programming, transfer, retention, and completion
  • Participate on relevant 2020FWD team(s);
  • Work on special projects as assigned by the Associate Vice President for Student Success.

The Office of Student Success serves as the main liaison to the UW System Senior Student Affairs Officers, UW Student Representatives, and UW System Admissions Directors and Registrars.
