PEOPLE Alumna debuts first fictional novel

Alexandria “A.L.” Harris, JBA ’12

Alexandria Harris, a 2012 PEOPLE Scholar who majored in Journalism, is releasing her first fictional novel under her pen name A.L. Harris.

The Golden Ashfruit is a young adult fantasy novel based on Norse mythology. The book features the origin of elves and faeries with heart-pounding drama sure to keep readers flipping through pages to the end. The Golden Ashfruit will be released in paperback and Kindle forms via Amazon on December 17.

A.L. Harris is a Milwaukee native and passionate reader with a strong penchant for The Lord of the Rings. In her novel the protagonist Princess Mab never thought she would be a mass murderer. Or marry someone she had never met. After her beloved Lumen Court grows weaker, the faerie has no choice but to court Freyr, an enigmatic Vanir god sent to safeguard her kingdom.

As betrayal, deceit, and murders escalate among the malicious faerie courts, Mab and Freyr wield more power than they ever dreamed—at a terrible cost. Tied to an ancient prophecy, both must fight against the consequences, even if it means fighting on opposite sides. Thirsting for answers, Mab becomes a pawn in a centuries-old conflict and now Freyr must reach her before she sacrifices everything for an unhinging power that leads her deeper into shadows and madness.

Harris will be donating a portion of  The Golden Ashfruit profits to her alma mater, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, to benefit the UW School of Journalism and Mass Communication Annual Fund, the PEOPLE Program, and L&S Scholarships.  So support this amazing young alum by getting your copy today.
