The 24 Hour Project: Combatting On-Campus and Off-Campus Sexual Violence through Narrative Justice

Sore Agbaje flyerIn honor of Womxn’s history month, the Campus Women’s Center (CWC) and the Promoting Awareness, Victim Empowerment (PAVE) welcomes our keynote facilitator, Soré Abjage who will be hosting her workshop, “The 24-Hour Project: Combatting On-Campus and Off-Campus Sexual Violence Through Narrative Justice” on March 7th, 2019 5:30-7:30pm at the Black Cultural Center. Participants will utilize contemporary spoken word poetry to facilitate their personal narratives as well as make stances against domestic violence. This workshop is open to all students who wish to learn more about art as activism, sexual assault, intersectional violence, and victim advocacy. Food and drinks will be provided.

Soré Agbaje is an internationally acclaimed poet who combines her talent in music, art, and writing with her passion for social justice and politics to challenge sexual assault. She has taken her work on tour to Germany, Austria, and Copenhagen for the Women Deliver Conference which was sponsored by the Munich Council of the Arts. She has been featured on ABC’s Good Morning America for her work on sexual assault activism, Button Poetry, For Harriet, All Def Poetry, United Nations Women, Let’s Panic Mag Issue 4, Rookie Mag and has performed for Adidas in their “Don’t Be Quiet Please” campaign in conjunction with Pharell Williams and the US Open. She performed her self-written one-woman show off-Broadway at New York Live Arts. Her latest play “Countdown” was put up by the Wild Project through the poetic theatre program, “Conscious Language”.
