Native American Studies welcomes Elder in Residence Leland Wigg Ninham

Retired Judge, Leland Wigg-Ninham has been a Tribal Trial/ Appellate Judge and Peacemaker/Mediator since 1999 for the Oneida Judicial System.  He also has served as a Pro temp Judge for the Menominee, Red Cliff, Stockbridge Munsee Tribal Courts.

Leland has been appointed to the Wisconsin Board of Governors by Chief Justice Shirley Abramson and has served in that capacity since 2011. He is a certified Peacemaker and Mediator/Civil Mediator and has served two terms as president of the Wisconsin Tribal Judge’s Association which consists of the eleven (11) Tribal Courts in Wisconsin. Leland has thirty (30) years’ experience in the paper industry as a machine operator and production supervisor.

Mr. Wigg-Ninham also is president of his tribal owned business; Consensus Development LLC which provides leadership Development Training, using the Talking Circle; to Communities, Courts, schools, governments, organizations and police departments. Leland has also received training in Steven Covey Seven Habits, Deming and Project Management and has obtained three certificates form the National judicial College in Tribal Judicial Studies.  Leland received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Concordia in 2000.  Mr. Wigg-Ninham joined the faculty of the National Judicial Center at the NJC in 2009.
