Art Exhibition to Support Black Lives Matter

Tonight at 7 p.m., join us for a special event in support of Black Lives Matter in  the Art Lofts Gallery.

Eric Adjetey Anang, Ghanaian Woodcarver and Master Coffin Builder and Windgate Artist in Residence in the Art Department, invites you to an Exhibition and Gun-Breaking Ceremony in support of Black Lives Matter. The gun-breaking action speaks out against gun violence in Madison, across the United States and around the world. People will be able to participate in the symbolic breaking of the gun barrel. The evening begins at 7:00 PM on Monday, November 30th, and will include:

-Live African Music with Djam Vivie, Tani Diakate and friends

-Spoken Word performances by First Wave students and alumni -Food -Gun Breaking Ceremony

-Comments by professors Mary Hark and Henry Drewal -Ghanaian Honoring Celebration honoring Eric’s grandfather, father and all who have preceded him and honoring Eric Adjetey Anang by the pouring of Libation by Linda Kreft

The exhibition will be on view for a limited time, from November 30 – December 3.
