There is added emphasis on working toward building more positive relationships between the community and the Milwaukee Police Department. The celebration is also intended to provide the space and opportunity for networking.

“I am much more confident now in my ability to connect with community members and get them involved,” Adkins said. “I do not want community members to be saddened or discouraged by the fact that the event is coming to an end, but I want everyone to celebrate how far we have come.  The event has grown so much over the years, and no matter where I end up, I will always cherish what a life-changing experience having this event has been for me.  I hope to take with me the skills that I have learned here to make a difference in other communities.”

With a purpose to develop and maintain community capacity, encourage collaboration among communities, and to promote advocacy, healing and positive community engagement following a tragedy within a community, the 5th Annual Community Event, will feature Motivational Speaker, Author & Life Coach, Eric S.
